Esker Japhy J1 Review: A Modern Steel Hardtail That Isn’t Overbuilt

The Esker Japhy J1 is a truly modern bike. It features a quad butted steel frame, with size-specific tubing, a modern geo, and room for 29×2.8. It’s great to see such a modern bike from a small company. Esker has packed some seriously cool features into this bike. This bike runs big, especially if you’re used to traditional sizing. I had a friend who was 6’0" on this bike, and he thought the fit felt great. So… I’d probably fit a small better than a medium for how it’s intended to be ridden. However, this bike rides so well that it’s definitely worth getting experiMENTAL on it.
